The Center for Medicare Advocacy, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization that provides legal assistance and education to help older people and people with disabilities gain fair access to Medicare and healthcare. We focus on the needs of people with chronic conditions and those in need of long-term care. The organization?s work includes individual advocacy, education, legislative analysis, and litigation of importance to Medicare beneficiaries nationwide.? Headquartered in Connecticut and Washington, DC, the Center also has offices in Maine, and around the country. The organization is not funded by the Legal Services Corporation.
The Center has an immediate opening for an attorney in its Connecticut office. The person filling this position will be responsible for providing direct representation in a high volume practice. This includes providing legal representation to Medicare beneficiaries in administrative hearings and litigation, presenting seminars to and writing materials for use by attorneys, other professionals and the Medicare community, and helping to lead the organization?s advocacy for low-income Medicare beneficiaries. The person in this position will also help advance our clients? interests within the Connecticut elder rights community and before state policy-makers.
The Connecticut office is located in Mansfield ? 15 minutes from the University of Connecticut, 40 minutes from Hartford, 1? hours from Boston and 2? hours from New York City.
JD and Bar membership required. Five years of legal practice and Connecticut elder law experience preferred. Must also have excellent oral, written, and organizational skills and a passion for social justice?
