Leeds Grub: Salute, Rothwell

Hello! I'm back (ish).

As I have now moved to Rothwell, Salute has become a rather convenient local restaurant for us; its one of James' family favourites and I can see why.

Salute excels at being a good all rounder and as a result its busy all of the time, even at 5.30 on a?Wednesday. The service is good and friendly every time, even when it is busy, and its good value.

Early on weekday evenings it's is full of families enjoying the child friendly and discounted set menus.

Later on and at the weekend the more grown up clientele choose from the still reasonable a la carte menu. The converted pub interior (the sign outside still says 'The White Swan') is a little bit unusual but its comfortable, modern and stylish.

Emma and I chose from the 2 for 15 menu earlybird menu. You can have two main courses from a good list of pizzas and pasta dishes and a side of salad or fries to share.

Drinks came quickly, food a reasonable time after. The portions are a good size, sauces rich and ingredients fresh.

Where Salute really shine is the puddings. Emma had a rich sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch ice cream (amazing) and I had the signature banana creme br?l?e served with a mini bailies milk shake, its a lot of fun and totally delicious.

The service was already added to the bill which is a pet peeve of mine. In all with drinks and coffees the bill was ?38, a bit pricey for a week night tea but we did have a lot to eat and coffees with our pudding.
