Under English law it is illegal to disclose the identity of a rape victim ? they have a right to anonymity. However, this didn?t stop Twitter users tweeting the victims? name in a recent criminal case involving premier footballer Ched Evans.
Nine people were brought before the court and pleaded guilty to contempt. They were ordered to pay fines and compensation to the rape victim. But was it fair to impose a uniform fine to all of them when some perpetrators were more involved than others?
